The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Yeah, that sounds exciting, but I haven't tried that yet. I have used the Cygwin's X11 client (server) on my PC. That would mean a fourth alternative to iSeries user interfaces (the other three are green screens, web, and thick client).
It would be pretty exciting to be able to have a X11 session, because it would have the advantages of a thick client (advanced GUI and total control of the session), without the disadvantages.
I wonder why nobody else has ever looked into this. Perhaps because it doesn't work?

Luis,
Unless you have to use a web interface, you have to develop a Java GUI application (using Swing or something like that) that runs on a PC, and connects to the iSeries.
There is a third possibility if I have understood the documentation
correctly, namely running an X11 server on the PC and connecting it to
the iSeries where the java program runs.
This is the same way that it is normally done under Unix, but as I
wrote, I have not tested it yet :)
