I'm not very familiar with Java at all, so I'm completely lost! We are
still getting a "resource busy" message this morning, but my other program
calling a different class is now working, so that's progress!
I have a feeling we're going to have to do something to make these
filenames unique to get around the "resource busy" issue. Although, that
had been running fine for a long time previously.

RE: Another "java.lang.NoSuchMethodError" question
This is very strange. Who knows what the problem was. I am not familiar
with RPG programs calling Java classes, so I recognize that I didn't know
that a log off was necessary. In any case, this was just very weird.

question
Progress made! As a last ditch effort before restoring from back ups I
was playing around with compiling my classes. At one point I figured
what
the heck and deleted the .class file in the java/Reports folder and
then
did a javac command from QSH as I've been doing just to recompile over
top.
In my mind it shouldn't make a difference, but it seems to have worked.
I
was able to run the RPG program that uses that class I was getting the
NoSuchMethod error the past couple of weeks.
I did the same for my other classes with completely deleting the .class
and then compiling. All tests tonight were successful. I'll be
checking
on two more jobs that run tomorrow morning.
I'll let you know how that goes.
Thanks to all that have been active in this thread.

That's not good. At this point I would suggest to restore your back
up
of your compiled classes.
After you do that, please compare the source date versus the compile
date. Sounds like somehow the original source code was modified, so
re-compiling may break things.
Also, please let me know what is the rationale to re-compile your
code,
and please also let us know the command line you're using to
recompile
your code.
Finally, please provide your java version and your operating system
version.
Thanks!
Luis

Luis -
I read your reply yesterday, but wasn't clear on what you suggest
that I
do. We're getting all sorts of Java errors these day and they're
things
that haven't been touched in a year. We must have at least three
different errors going on right now.
NullPointExceprtion <- last compiled 7/21/05
NoSuchMethodError <- recompiled 12/07 and just last night
"java.io.FileNotFoundException: Resource busy. <- last compiled
1/14/06
Three different errors in three different classes.
I appreciate your help.
