Kara,

Joe's recommendation to try to connect to the DB on your system from something like Squirrel, or any other PC based JDBC client, is a good one. It will verify that all is well. I'd give that a whirl.

How did you check the username/password? We ran into a problem once where our default userid/password had repeating characters and the password policy on the customer's system was attempting to force the user to change the password becuase it didn't meet the spec. We didn't "see" the error until we tried to sign on to a terminal, then we got the error.

It *seems* like you have the bases covered though. I'd try an "external" client as a sanity check.

- WRKRDBDIRE shows the remote db connection with the external IP address and the hostname I was originally using.

- PTFs were loaded at upgrade time then reloaded again to make sure.

- 5722JC1 *COMPATIBLE Toolbox for Java is loaded.
- Version under v5r2 was 1.3 and is the same on v5r3

- I don't think the error is from CCSID not being 37 as we are not receiving the error the memo states we would get.
- The connection is the last part of the code, all the code is working correctly until it tries to create the connection.

-Username and Password are ok.

Thanks
Kara
