Hi Dennis,
As Pete indicated, and you probably already know once you think about
it, standard Java installations on the AS/400 don't have graphics, mouse,
etc support. Why? OS/400 itself is a green screen, character based system.
The solution is headless mode, and the AS/400's general solution for
providing graphics is with the PASE environment. See:

Subject: Why PASE for jfreeChart?
Hi,
I installed Scott's JFREECHTR4 service program today and kept getting this
error message "java.awt.AWTError: AWT class or API used without
specifying property os400.awt.native=true". So I added that line to the
SystemDefault.properties file and this time it really gets upset because
we don't have PASE installed. I don't know why we don't, but I checked
and it isn't installed.
Before I go beg my boss to allow me to install PASE on our system, my
question is why does the jfreechart need it? The other java classes I've
used, (mainly through Scott's HSSFR4 service program), haven't needed it.
Thanks,
Dennis
