The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

If you are forced to hardcode your sort order if might be easier to use the posstr function instead of a Case when statement. See example below:
Select
sample,
posstr( 'acdbefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz', sample ) as Sort
From
( Select 'a' as sample from Sysibm.Sysdummy1
Union Select 'b' as sample from Sysibm.Sysdummy1
Union Select 'c' as sample from Sysibm.Sysdummy1
Union Select 'd' as sample from Sysibm.Sysdummy1 ) as fields
Order By 2
