I don't think the AS400File object is what you want to use. I think the
listeners you can attach to the AS400File object can only react to
events generated within the java application and not at a system level.
I implemented something similar using a combination of a physical file
trigger that fires a generic RPG trigger program.
The RPG trigger program parses the data sent to it and sends an entry to
a data queue. A java program monitors the data queue and reacts to the
changes.
