Mike,
I'm not sure I can help much, but have you verified that your timeout is or
isn't working? In other words, have you put in some kind of a logging
statement or run this through a debugger to verify that you are locking up at
the data queue command?

Subject: Problem accessing data queuefrom Java when system shuts down
Hi,
We have a java application running on a PC that
accesses an iSeries dataqueue. When the iseries is
taken down to a restricted state for a system save our
application that is waiting on the dataqueue doesn't
receive an exception it just hangs. The application
has code to catch exceptions, so if we say, pull the
network cable out of the PC the application catches an
exception. Put the cable pack in and the application
can recover because it creates a new AS400 instance
and a new connection is established.
It just seems to be when the iseries goes down that we
don't get an exception. We have a wait time on the
call to the dataqueue read of 2 seconds, so it seems
that the call is not returning even afetr the 2
seconds. Has anyone observed something similar and
have a fix?
Thanks in advance,
Mike
