I am loading a DB2/400 data base table from an XML file. I was not having problems until a vendor started adding comma's in the 'total' element of the XML. Now my program errors when trying to write the amount field to a Big Decimal. The cXML consortium states the comma is optional, so I need to deal with it.

Can anyone tell me how to load the BigDecimal field with the numeric value containing the comma?

I'm including the code.

NodeList moneyNodes = childNode.getChildNodes();
Node money = moneyNodes.item(0);
Orderbean.setTotalAmount(new BigDecimal(money.getFirstChild().getNodeValue()));

// If I place this line above the Orderbean.setTotal....line, and execute it, .I receive a string value of "1,055.97".

String strTotal = money.getFirstChild().getNodeValue();

I appologize, I'm an RPG'r now being plugged into the wonderful world of Java.

thanks,
Don McIntyre
