I've just started playing with Java on the iSeries. Our young Java programmer has developed a class which will return a variable length string. I will be invoking this through an ILE RPG program. In RPG I presumed that this would be a *varying declaration, but then I realized that a string in Java is an object. I know that there is an object type in RPG, but this is only to manage the interface to calling Java methods. What is the correct technique for passing back a varying length character 'string' when RPG is calling Java? Thanks. ********************************************************************************************************* This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
