Hi Chad, I'm biased, but I do honestly believe you would go through a large learning curve to end up a niche programmer. Also, I subscribe to the Mac list, among many others, and there have been some comments there about SWT problems on that platform. If you want to check it out, "The Definitive Guide to SWT and JFace" http://www.apress.com/book/bookDisplay.html?bID=351 is a good start. If you want another biased opinion, I know one of the authors and could probably hook you up to get his current estimation. As to SOA, I don't offhand know of anything that is *the* source, but Google is your friend. Here are a couple of articles with plenty of resource links: "An Introduction to Service-Oriented Architecture from a Java Developer Perspective" http://www.onjava.com/lpt/a/5592 "Service-Oriented Architecture and Web Services: Concepts, Technologies, and Tools" http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/WebServices/soa2/ HTH, Joe Sam Joe Sam Shirah - http://www.conceptgo.com conceptGO - Consulting/Development/Outsourcing Java Filter Forum: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/ Just the JDBC FAQs: http://www.jguru.com/faq/JDBC Going International? http://www.jguru.com/faq/I18N Que Java400? http://www.jguru.com/faq/Java400 ----- Original Message ----- From: "cornelius, chad" <chad.cornelius@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <java400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, September 03, 2006 11:21 PM Subject: SWT & SOA Referrence Materials
Hi all, Do any of you have some recommendations on good reading material for learning SWT and SOA? Also, would anyone recommend SWING over SWT? I do not know much about either except that SWT can take advantage of platform specific functionality. Thanks a bunch, Chad
