I have only used it for some testing/prototyping and only with in the confines of Websphere Application Server Community Edition.

I brought over a DB from MySQL and one from MS SQL and installed them, quite easily as I recall, into the Derby DB in WASCE (using scripts generated from SQuirreL). No problems noted but I also haven't scaled it at all.

I am building a Linux server on an IXS that will be hosting all our company web applications. I plan to run all of them from WASCE so Derby will replace the MySQL and MS SQL databases we currently have. I'll know more after the migration.

From what I have heard Apache Derby is an "embeddable" java database. I can
see it being useful for configuring websites where I would traditionally use
*.properties files.

My Question: Is anybody using Derby/Cloudscape? If so what is your
particular use?
