My advice would be to stop using that undocumented sun.net.smtp.SmtpClient 
class; there's a good chance it doesn't work in JVMs not written by Sun. Like 
the IBM JVM you are using on your iSeries. (Or maybe it doesn't even exist.) It 
looks like you already have JavaMail and are using it, so just check out the 
programs in the "demo" directories. There are some basic "send a message" 
programs there.
