java questions( on Iseries)

Hi All,


                      I am very new to java on iseries.I have a few 
questions.


1. My company is planning to write all new applications using JAVA(IBM 
TOOLBOX) on Iseires.We have to write  complex extraction programs(from 
Iseries database).WithILE RPG we do not have any problem doing that. But 
with Java(IBM TOLLBOX) ,how efficient it will be? Is there any approach 
other than using toolbox.?


2.I am trying to debug a java program using RUNJVA command(from green 
screen) .Everything working ok, except I am not able to display variable 
value(using F11 function key) .How to display variable value while 
debugging java applications using green screen
