Ramprasad,

assuming that you are developing a java/jsp web app, the you only really
need to touch Websphere on the Iseries once you are ready to test your app.

You would develop and unit test your app locally on your PC, using either
WSAD or WDSC (WSAD + Iseries extensions), then when you are ready to deploy
for system testing, production etc, you would deploy to Websphere on the
Iseries.

There are multiple ways to start up websphere on the Iseries, but the
easiest is to start the webpshere subsystem. Check you have enough memory on
your Iseries or you wont get very far.

For WAS 5.1, the subsystem is QEJBAS51, so you would STRSBS
QEJBAS51/QEJBAS51.
If you have Network Deployment, you may also need to start the ND subsystem,
STRSBS QEJBAS51/QEJBASND51.
