   Hi Sam,

I will be very interested to know if you ever get BIRT reports,
specifically charts and graphs to successfully run on the iSeries. I have
spent the last couple of weeks building reports and testing them in my
development environment (RAD 6.0.1) on Windows. When I deployed them to
Websphere 6.0 on the iSeries I could run reports containing tables but no
charts and graphs. Charts are generated as PNG files. The log file reveals
   the following error.

   java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no fontmanager in java.library.path

   followed by

   java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: sun/awt/font/NativeFontWrapper

I've been on the phone with IBM and so far nothing has surfaced.

I'd appreciate it if you let me know if you ever get around to trying your
   reports on the iSeries.

   Thanks so much,
   Sarah

      Hi Sarah,

I just looked over BIRT myself today. It's clear that graphs and
   charts
are represented in BIRT - XML rather than binary form. I can't give any
specific help at the moment, but you might want to look over "Using
   Eclipse
BIRT Report Libraries and Templates" by Mark Gamble, a BIRT team member,
   at:

   http://www.theserverside.com/articles/article.tss?l=EclipseBRT

You can test it under Tomcat, as the article supposes, then try moving
   it to WAS. HTH,
