Here are some more details for jasper
http://www.rizwan.in/node/268

iReport is cool designer and greatest open source tool. If you are
eclipsed then jasperassistant is a better choice
http://www.jasperassistant.com/

however using iReport and its report wizard you can create good looking
reports in couple of hours..
(remember to put your jt400.jar inside the lib folder of iReports and
then configure your datasource with iSeries drivers accordingly :-) for
iSeries reports)

Subject: Re: Java for Batch and Reporting

Jon,

We are using Jasper Reports although we aren't building the reports in
batch, they are run on the fly by the servlet. We are currently
"pondering" what to do with batch report processing ourselves. RPG is
such a good tool for this that it is hard to justify using something
like Jasper to crank out a report (as pretty as it is).

We do use Jasper and have found it quite simple to use. For report
designing we use iReport which will compile to a Jasper class. The cool

thing is that once you have designed the report, you can just specify
different output types (PDF,HTML,XLS, etc) We let the user chose the
option as they submit the reports.

Of course, it is all Open Source (http://jasperreports.sourceforge.net
http://ireport.sourceforge.net)
