Is the stack trace readily available when the Java class is instantiated
from an RPG program? From what I've read it isn't and I'd have to create
a new method to log the stack trace and then change some settings in
order to view the entries.

That means "Something went wrong". It could be many things. The other
information associated with the exception (description and stack trace)
would provide more useful information. Such as the exact line of code
where the exception was thrown. From your remark about "error code 101"
it sounds like you have something that interferes with being able to see
the stack trace, if that is so then I would recommend getting that
turned off.
