It seems my JAVA setup was completely HOSED. I removed all the JVA LICPGM objects and reinstalled. Now I can compile with JAVAC and the logger routine 'sorta' works. It shows on the screen, but I still get no log file. Is the properties file OK? (I got as pieces-parts from the web too.) ======== # Specify the handlers to create in the root logger # (all loggers are children of the root logger) # The following creates two handlers handlers = java.util.logging.FileHandler, java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler # Set the default logging level for the root logger .level = ALL # Set the default values for new ConsoleHandler instances java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.level = INFO java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.formatter = java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter # Set the default values for new FileHandler instances java.util.logging.FileHandler.level = ALL java.util.logging.FileHandler.formatter = java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter java.util.logging.FileHandler.pattern = ./LogTest.log java.util.logging.FileHandler.limit = 100000 java.util.logging.FileHandler.append = false ======== (Previously JAVAC would return with an exception to the effect that the linker was invalid?) > Chris Wolcott wrote: > > I've tried it with and without specifying the Log.properties file. > > Neither way works.
