Getting more messages from a CommandCall?

Does anyone know of a way to get more messages out of a CommandCall?

I'm running a command on a V5R2 system via CommandCall ... and the
command is erroring out (which I expect) ... but it's only returning the
final escape message when I do call getMessageList(), even though there
is clearly one or more diagnostic messages in the QZRCSRVS joblog.

The setMessageOption method indicates that the number of messages can be
set, but it's not clear what is required to use this option.  "This
property will only take affect on servers that support the new option"
(which ones???).
