I have a little utility created for emailing spool files using Java mail, and I used the '0D25' hex code to "replace" the "~" in the message line. Basically, I use the ~ as a reference point for inserting the carriage return line feed. Ron Power Programmer Information Services City Of St. John's, NL P.O. If you are using Java to compose the text try using the escape character of \n. For example String str = "Dear Alpo Dealers,\n We are pleased to announce the latest flavor...\n Sincerely Yours,\n Alpo America."; If the text for the email was being composed in another language on the iSeries you would have to use the respective special character for that language (or just use the hex values).
