PDFs are ASCII encoded streams as is PCL. > I think that, if i have PDF embebed in ASCII spool, i need a > PRT DEVD in > iSeries capable to convert ASCII with PDF Data Stream to PCL > (most common > language printers) without card addons. No, you need a printer that can understand PDF. PDF is a subset/superset (or related to?) postscript (PS). Often you'll see PS and PDF listed along with PCL as compatible for a given printer. For example, the Minolta 9100 lists the following emulations: PostScript 3, PCL 6, HP-GL, PDF, line printer http://printer.konicaminolta.net/products/monochrome/pp9100/index.asp See how PDF is listed? > With any service program, service driver, i don´t know. As I recall, I've see threads in the Midrange-L list that give advice on how to PDF (and PS) data streams (contained in IFS files) to PCL using some open source/freeware products. Which can than be spooled to a PCL printer. Actually, you'd be better off moving this entire thread to the MIDRANGE-L list. HTH, Charles
