David,

Thanks for the feedback. Can you comment on the benefits of Sysdeo's over
MyEclipse? We have been impressed with MyEclipse DB Explorer, ER diagram
creator, etc. We now have hot code replace working nice in MyEclipse which
is a big deal. Again, important factors to us are:

1) Productivity
a. High quality
b. Infrequent crashes
c. Decent performance running WTE or Tomcat
d. Hot code replace
e. JDK currency
2) Standards
3) Price/Value
a. MyEclipse as mentioned is < $30 so it not even a consideration

Other experiences with Eclipse plug-ins for Web development?

subject: Re: WDSCi versus Eclipse + MyEclipse

Paul,

On several projects I am working on it is a requirement to use plug-ins that
only work with Eclipse 3.0 due to JDK constraints. I use MyEclipse
for those projects and it works fine. It rarely makes a difference but
the thing I miss most is the schema editor and iSeries specific support.
On the positive side, Eclipse 3.0 is a lot better than 2.1, I can select
my own JDK, and the Tomcat support is better (but I still like Sysdeo's
plug-in better).

David Morris

Thanks, Paul
