how defined i DEVD as *ASCII?

My printer is a printer *LAN. *LAN device needs HPT(*yes) to convert *SCS, 
*AFP to ASCII in a ASCII printer.
If i defined in DEVD MODEL(*ASCII), can not to be *LAN.
If i defined DEVD as *LAN, HPT(*yes), prints garbage.
