XML from iSeries db2 tables???

My company has a need to retrieve data from DB2-400 tables and then map that
data to complex XML document schemas.  The OS release is V5R2.
 
I've looked at this problem, and there are many, many options available.
Does anyone have any experience with this?  What works well?  What should we
avoid?
 
Right now I'm leaning towards simple retrieval using the tools available in
WSAD (DB2->XML wizard), then using XSLT to map the results to the more
complex schema in instances when a simple table-based schema will simply not
do.
 
Any thoughts are appreciated, particularly from anyone who has experience.
