JT400 is a package for manipulating AS400 objects from Java and -as such- you're obviously restricted to use it for AS400 objects only. If you want to make your app portable, don't use AS400 objects directly. As Joe pointed out, you should use factory objects to return a suitable artifact no matter the platform. For example, you could use JMS regardless of wether you're using AS400 data queues (thru JT400) or WebSphere MQ queues under Linux. Sergio
