I agree. 

I've had to extend an application that used DynaActions forms, and the
problem I have found is that as soon as you need to do anything complex with
your forms, DynaAction forms just get in the way.

I didn't do the lesson, why does he recommend against it? We use
DynaActionForms all the time.  You only need to code your own ActionForm in
unusual cases.

Code by hand, you'll learn more.  It's not that hard anyway, most folks
don't feel the need for a GUI for Struts.
