Mike,

It would be helpful to have more information. What type of data are you
sending and how much is there? Is the format of the data under your
control? Is performance a concern? Is this interaction synchronous and
do you need guaranteed delivery/responses? Does the data travel over an
Intranet or the Internet? Is security a concern? What type of
application is at both ends, Java to Java, Java to .net, etc.?
