I have ready everywhere about the upgrade from 3.2.4. Even IBM's
documentation for the HTTP Server has the steps. But the fine print says
that they (IBM) do not support any other version and they do not have
any plans to upgrade the current version. I cannot install it on the
company's server if it is not supported. It puts us out of compliance.
The effort is to go to WebSphere 5.0 Express, but that will take time.
My problem is that I am trying to build a Job based servlet and would
like to stop process if the app goes in limbo. And creating another
instance of Tomcat just for that application is out of question. Is
there a manual way to run some *.sh file to stop servlet processes?

Of course Tomcat5 is not oficially supported, because otherwise IBM would have some argumentation problem why someone should buy WAS Express. At least two of my iSeries customers run Tomcat5 without any problems, but its a company discission to do so.

I dont get your goal, you want to stop the whole tomcat when your job servlet crashes and what mean crashes in that context? Or do you mean your servlet instance, but why is there a need to re-instantiate this servlet.
