Paul, I don't think you want to do this. For instance, what if someone is modifying a class in development? You don't want it to affect production until the has been tested. Otherwise, why have a development environment? rgds, Tom pekrzyz@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent by: java400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 06/08/2004 02:45 PM Please respond to Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 <java400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To java400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx cc Subject Running Java classes from multiple IFS We have an AS400 with three partitions. Partition 1 is primarily used for development and has an IFS structure. It also has the Java development system installed, and contains all the Java classes. All application successfully run in this partition Partition 2 is the production environment and it has it's own separate IFS, with currently no JVM installed. We want to install Java in partition 2 but want to avoid having to have duplicate all the Java classes we create in partition 1, into partition 2, rather we want to be able to access the Java classes from partition 1. I can see someone forgetting to copy the most current Java class from development into production. If we install the JVM on partition 2, can we access the Java classes and other jar files located on partition 1, without having to have a second copy of all the classes and related jar files in partition 2. My thoughts were to try and create a link to the IFS system in partition 1 and set the class path to point to this link. Can multiple IFS structures be linked to commonly share Java objects? ..Paul -- This is the Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 (JAVA400-L) mailing list To post a message email: JAVA400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/java400-l or email: JAVA400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l.
