File SystemDefault.properties can be put in /QIBM/UserData/Java400 folder as well as your home directory. I just put it in /home/jin directory on the v5r2 box and changed it to contain java.version=1.3. Now 'java -version' gives "java version "1.3.1"". I don't see this property ignored.
