<snip> My plan is to create an initial prototype/proof of concept using the free jBoss, ....then move to ..... Webshere Enterprise. ..... I have heard that the components created by using jBoss IDE do work when dropped into anormal Websphere deployment. ...clipped for brevity.... </snip> I have both JBoss 3.1.12 and WebSphere running on the same box,(small 170 with 1 gig memory, 260CPW) and have moved applications between them without too much issue. Database mapping becomes the main source of trouble. When you deploy successfully to the JBoss server, there is some tweaking that has to be done to get it to run on WebSphere. I agree with Dieter's comments about JBoss maybe running better in a Linux partition or stand-alone, but once you start putting any load at all on it, the WebSphere server wins hands down, even on my small system. As to EJB's, Why use them. The best thing they do for you is enforce business rules and referential integrity which DB/2 can do far far better. I would not use EJBs, they just don't perform as well as the database and normal servlets/applets. Jim Oberholtzer Senior Solutions Architect Computech Resources, Inc.
