Balazs, What driver are you using? With the native driver you should set translate binary=true. There are several ways to do this but something like this will work: "jdbc:db2:*local;naming=system;translate binary=true" David Morris >>> balazs.vojtek@xxxxxxxxxxx 2/27/2004 2:37:45 AM >>> Hello there, I have some problems regarding character conversion into the right CCSID when running JDBC insert statements. In my program I'm using 2 database connections 1 to our enterprise AS400 database and one to a small Firebird database. I'm trying to read the data from Firebird, then making some conversions and calculations, then to insert the result into DB2 database file. I have tested the program and configuration on my PC and it worked without problem, the special characters had been written correctly. As soon as I have tried to run the program on the iSeries, (some of) the special characters weren't written correctly. I have tried to debug the program and found that the program interprets the red data incorrectly. I was trying to use some conversion before writing the data but I was unable to specify the CCSID of the interpretation of input data . Our machine runs on V5R1, and the CCSID of the database is 870. The Firebird database runs on WinXP with windows-1250 encoding. Thank you for your help Best regards Balazs
