resize an image on iSeries -- JAVA400-L

How would I resize an image on the iSeries? We are running Java 1.3 on V5R1. All of the methods that I know involve using pakages from javax.swing, java.awt, java.awt.image, and/or com.sun.image.codec.jpeg. All of those are unavailable on the iSeries (I think). It would only involve jpeg images. Anyone have a good suggestion?
