Garbage Collection Java from RPG

Following advice given in an article by Braina Farrar in I-series news I have 
attempted to instantiate java classes and java methods from ILE RPG. Things 
seem to work ok. However I followed the advice and created a service program to 
do the Java Garbage collection ie remove the objects from memory once they are  
no longer needed ( the code was availaible in the article)

 The Garbage collector would seem to process ok , ( no obvious crashes) but 
after the program ended , system request 20   appears to show a list of active 
objects. The code is complex and I wonder if you might be able to explain what 
is going on here.
