James whichever way you do it, your object can be stored where you decide on the IFS. The references I created were just normal fields with a path to the IFS object. If you use the LOB facilities available in the database, the system can create links to the IFS object, and can also protect the object so that it can only be accessed using the database reference, really depends on what your trying to acheive, and how sophisticated you want the app to be cheers Colin.W ----- Original Message ----- From: "James H H Lampert" <jamesl@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <java400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, January 12, 2004 7:47 PM Subject: LOB fields (was Re: is it possible to store a xslt file in DB2) > Colin Williams spoke of how he: > > . . . created a database file to hold refererences to the > > objects on the IFS > > to which Zack Metz replied: > > ...which is exactly what the system does for a LOB field. > > Where in the IFS? > > (Or since this is ultimately going into an MI project, perhaps I ought to > move this to the MI list?) > > -- > JHHL > > > _______________________________________________ > This is the Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 (JAVA400-L) mailing list > To post a message email: JAVA400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx > To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, > visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/java400-l > or email: JAVA400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx > Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives > at http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l. > >
