I've done this using a utility from a German company. It's free and comes in both a client and a server variant. It's based on Word automation. It picks up your Word template and uses bookmarks to insert text into the document and saves it on finish. You may then display the final document in a browser. It's very easy to use. I think I can control this by changing the mime type to "application/word" ( or something similar ) on the response object and then write the results from the database. I'm hoping this would fire up a word document at the client end and display the results in it. Is this along the correct lines, and if not, is there another way of getting java to write to a word document.
