hey, I may not have the answer but I believe that I have a plan. In the library QSYS2 there is a set of files that contain all of metadata about files. These are the ones that SQL/400 uses. In fact I beleive that they are an SQL Standard. So what I would do, is find the similar files in SQLSERVER, and use microsoft query to join the 2 set together and then import them inot excel. There was an article in NEWS/400, October 1999, title METADATA: the AS/400 HIDDEN DATABASE TREASURE CHEST, that does a good job of explaining how the files relate to each other, their names, and what their specific OS/400 function, OS/400 uses them when you do a DSPFFD, WRKDBR and so on. I hope that helps. Hi All, We have our native application running on AS/400, DB2. Our database files are in DB2. We are planning to move the data residing on AS400 (DB2) to a web based product which uses .NET technology and MSSQL Server database. We are identifying the database files/fields residing on AS400 (DB2). These DB2 files/fields will be mapped to the corresponding fields existing on the web based product which uses MS SQL Server. We call this mapping process "GAP Analysis" or "Process Flow Analysis". We are creating Excel sheets to capture the information (database files/fields) gathered from our AS400 application and web based application. My question is if there is any tool available in the market which can do the Gap Analysis between the two applications (in our case AS400/DB2 and .NET/MSSQL) and feed the information into the excel sheet. Is there any better way to do the Gap Analysis? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Amit. _______________________________________________ This is the Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 (JAVA400-L) mailing list To post a message email: JAVA400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo.cgi/java400-l or email: JAVA400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l.
