Java running in batch job -- JAVA400-L

I have a java application that I submit to batch.

How can I send myself debugging messages using System.out.println() or 
something similar
(without adding logging)?

I get the Exceptions to the joblog.  I get shell echo to the joblog.  How can I 
get println
or something similar out??
