i strongly recommend java webstart since it's a very convinient and elegant way to install java program on client exspecially if u prever thick client. it could answer your question about icons, add menu item on start menu, even automatic download, versioning, offline support, using specified j2re as u specify. and it's easy and free (bundled with j2se1.4.1). it also support linux/windows for mac maybe a little difficult in configuring. for more u could go to :http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart >>> jross-ml@netshare400.com 12/01/02 01:14PM >>> I have written some Java Programs and want to run them on other clients. I used Eclipse to code and test them, and it will create a jar file for me, but it does not include IBM classes. What is the correct way to install the IBM classes from JTOPEN on the client machines? I have looked at classes AS400ToolboxInstaller and AS400ToolboxJarMaker, but not sure if that is going to help me. Also are there installers I should be looking at, that will create ICONS on the desktop and add menu items on the start menu, change the classpath? Can I do this myself with Java? I would like the installer to work with Linux, Mac and Windows.
