howto figure out if ResultSet is empty

hello,

i know that it's a bit off-topic, so please forgive me.

the problem is exactly the subject line:

howto figure out if ResultSet is empty ?

my code looks like this:

Statement statement;
ResultSet rs;

String stm = "Select xxx from xxx.xxx where xxx";

rs = statement.executeQuery(stm);

while(rs.next())
{
        do.something();
}

till now if i get an SQLException i guess the resultset is empty. but that
is not very good (in german: unbefriedigend).

how do i exactly figure out if the resultset is empty (no results for this
query)?
