Many thanks for all of your answers. In fact the problem is somewhere
else, although caching problems with Win2K also occured.

In fact we also updated our security software (Entrust) from version
5 to 6.

Everything worked fine since months in our testing environment, so I
didn't thing it can be due to the security upgrade.

Just coming back to version 5 on the client side (Entrust install some
soft on the client machine) made everything work!

The very strange thing was (we snooped the servers) that the AS400 HTTP
server received and identified the jsp request, but did nothing, just
returned blank. This is the reason why I focused on the HTTP and WAS
servers.

So I suspect some encryption problem related to IE. We now have to find
why it worked in test and not in live.

Thank you for your help

Gilles

We are very aware of the caching differences between mosaic and IE
browsers. We have run into some unique issues that we are seeing on IE on
W2K only. I was wondering if the previous post from Gilles was on a W2K
box since these are some of the symptoms that we are seeing.. Page cannot
be found, as if it did not know how to interpret this jsp page. We have
seen the response coming back but the browser balks at interpreting it.

There are a *lot* of issues where IE and Netscape work differently.

One of the big things I've seen where something won't work in IE but will
work in Netscape have to do with caching. They seem to cache things
differently. Not counting the issues with tables, formatting, etc...

In IE: Tools: Internet Options: Delete Files: check Delete All Offline
Content. Then try again.

Just curious... are these IE problems occuring on W2K machines? We've run
into problems with internal DNS & IE on W2K machines where Mozilla / Linux
work just fine.

It is strange that NetScape can invoke the jsp but IE cannot. I suggest
starting your HTTP server with instance startup value of -vv (dash vee vee)
and examining the spooled trace file to see where "good" request handlin
differs from a "bad" one.

yes, but they are called by servlets.
This one is directly called.

One more very very strange thing: it works with Netscape
but not with internet explorer !!!!!

Do the other JSPs in the same webapp work fine?
  | To: "'java400-l@midrange.com'" <java400-l@midrange.com>

We use 3.5.4

It is true that the html uses lower cases letters
and that the jsp name has two upper case letters.
But when I type it directly witht teh correct case
the problem still remain.

In fact it is like if the jsp is not processed at all
I will have a look at the http server config.
The JSPProcessor is enabled.
Is there something else to enable in WAS?

Many thanks

Gilles

What version of WebSphere App Server are you using? Are you invoking the
JSP with exactly the correct case of the jsp file name? If you upgraded to
3.5.6, a few days ago, the problem might be to do with the new case
sensitivity being used for the file names being served (there is something
on this i n the release notes).

                      "Ducret, Gilles
Hi all,

A very strange thing just appeared on our production system.

We have an HTML page that directly calls a JSP. Since two days I have
"Page cannot be found" when I try to call the jsp, as if it did not know
how
to interpret this jsp page.

We just made a release two days ago, but this jsp has not been affected by
the code release. No change. We just have deleted the temporary compiled
jsps.

We have added fop, xalan and xerces packages in the websphere classpath.

The problem is that I cannot find any error anywhere. Just sometimes a
TXDocument cannot
be instanciated. I have changed the classpath to remove xalan and xerces
but
it didn't change
the problem.

I have been searching for 4 hours and I am out of ideas.

Could you please give me some idea to knwo where to search?

Many thanks

Gilles
