Oh, you want to get a result set back! See the Redbook at http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/pubs/pdfs/redbooks/sg246503.pdf entitled "Stored Procedures and Triggers on DB2 Universal Database for iSeries". >From page 62: "Some traditional programming languages, such as RPG and COBOL, cannot retrieve result sets returned by a stored procedure, unless they use the SQL Call Level Interface for the stored procedure call." For more information on that, see the "SQL Call Level Interface (ODBC)" book. The examples are in C but you can call these same routines from RPGLE using a prototype. A good discussion (and examples) can be found in the Redbook "Who Knew You Could Do That with RPG IV? A Sorcerer's Guide to System Access and More" (http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/RedbookAbstracts/sg245402. html?Open) Chapter 6.5 is all about using the CLI from RPGLE. Section 6.5.8.1 has the source code for a sample RPGLE program using CLI. If you know ODBC, it's pretty simple to understand. Otherwise, you're in for somewhat of a learning curve. Chapter 6.5 is a good place to start.
