I found that if I copied a java class that took a couple of minutes to run on a PC and run on our iSeries in a Qshell it took nearly 20 minutes to run, no matter what I did with CRTJVAPGM. However, run the same code from a Servlet running in WAS, it took less than a minute. According to the specs, we haven't got enough memory or processor power to run WAS at all, yet it way outperforms a Qshell program. I think whether your box is batch (as ours is) or interactive makes a big difference.
