Is there any easy way to deploy an application to Websphere 4.

Can we do it manually instead of using assembly tool.

Can someone explain what is the relation b/w different xml files. like
server-cfg.xml, application.xml, web.xml and also something about xmi files
and META-INF.

I tried copying sample application EAR and tried adding my servlets and JSPs
but now examples is not working but my new application is working fine.
