Dieter, I am very interested in your response. Can you provide more information? I have a jar file that comes from NT (not sure exactly what JDK is used to create it). This jar file has a class that goes into a tight loop when running on the AS/400 (V4R5 and V5R1). This loop does not occur on other platforms (NT and Unix). The BCI job cannot be cancelled, even by ENDJOBABN, and I have to IPL to get rid of it. Any information on how I could solve (or work around) this problem would be appreciated. I am new to java and java on the AS/400. Do you think that if I do a CRTJVAPGM on my jar file that it would help? If so, what optimization level do you recommend? Can your looping problem be recreated with a small piece of java code so that it can be reported to IBM and hopefully a fix can be developed? We've had a bug in V4R5 and V5R1 executing nested loops in the JIT environment, but it worked with a static compile with CRTJVAPGM. Dieter Bender
