There is a utility that will extract only the classes you need and make a
smaller jar file, although I haven't used it much.  For example, take a look
at the following command:

java utilities.AS400ToolboxJarMaker -component AS400JDBCDriver

According to the documentation, this will create a jar file with only the
classes required for the AS400JDBCDriver.  Try this and let us know how it
works out.
