Thanks for that Richard.  I'll get something to you off-list.

FYI, and for the sake of the archives: I also posted this question on
IBM's PartnerWorld for Developers "Ask A Question" service.  They
responded by saying, essentially, "Yes, see your point, we don't have a
fix on our database, take it up with your local defect support
organization."  Which is fair enough: logging error reports isn't their
job; but how much easier life would be if they _could_ generate the
error report and route it to the correct department within IBM.

Also your response shows that informal channels of support can be more
effective than formal ones.
