Not everybody wants servlets that allow users to maintain specific fields in specific tables. But if you do, there is probably some code somewhere that automates that (it's not very hard using JDBC). (We don't use DFU in our operating environment and so we wouldn't use a servlet that allows arbitrary updates to a table either.) A lot of the other things in your list sound like tasks for AS/400 security -- such as who can access a table, who can update it. I believe that recent releases of OS/400 even allow for column-level security (or is that coming soon?). I wouldn't bother duplicating that in my servlets, I'd leave the security to the AS/400. Hope this helps a little. Hi Jo, thanks for your reply. I know how to setup the Webserver to work with servlets and JSP. But my question is: Is it nessecery that everyone has to write servlets which do - the Userlogin - the User and Usergroup administration - Username, Password - which "links" are shown on left side (If you have a frame there) - which tables he/she is able to select/insert/update/delete - which Fields he/she is able to see/edit - standard maintenance of tables (insert/read/write/delete) from a HTML-page - ... maybe you now better what kind of stuff is all needed. ... +--- | This is the JAVA/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to JAVA400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to JAVA400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to JAVA400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: joe@zappie.net +---
