I have used a data area on the AS400 and when a shutdown request value is set in the data area, the java program reads it and shuts down. -----Original Message----- From: marshall@dpslink.com [SMTP:marshall@dpslink.com] Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2001 1:52 PM To: JAVA400-L@midrange.com Subject: Controlled shutdown of a Java "daemon" I'm running a java program as a daemon process in it's own subsystem. It is initiated via RUNJVA in a CL program. The job responds to requests placed on a data queue. It never ends, it justs waits on requests. So far this is working great, but I am looking for a "nice" way to shut the thing down. I'd like it to end via a controlled shutdown of the subsystem (ENDSBS xxxx *CNTRLD). Currently, a controlled end of the subsystem without a delay time value will cause the subsystem to never end. I'm hoping there is a way for my java program to check that a controlled shutdown has been requested so that it can shut itself down in an orderly fashion and end via a System.exit(0). Any ideas??? === Marshall Dunbar DPS, Inc. marshall@dpslink.com (317)574-4300 (800)654-4689 ==== +--- | This is the JAVA/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to JAVA400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to JAVA400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to JAVA400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: joe@zappie.net +---
