Larry

What can I do to determine exactly what it is doing?

Using WRKJOB command, here is the program stack during a RUN status in
descending order on the thread in question:

access      QSYS
Java_java_io_File_exists0
_MINATIVE(_L)I
java-io-File-exists()Z
com-ibm-servlet-classloader-FileDependency-validate()V
com-ibm-servlet-classloader-DirClassProvider-validate()V
com-ibm-servlet-classloader-JarDirClassProvider-validate()V
com-ibm-servlet-classloader-DynamicClassLoader-validate()V
com-ibm-servlet-classloader-PowerClassLoader-validate()V
com-ibm-servlet-engine-SEServletManager-validateServlets()V
com-ibm-servlet-engine-SEServletManager$ServletValidator-handleAlarm(Lcom-su
n-server-util-Alarm;)V
com-sun-server-util-AlarmManager-run()V
java-lang-Thread-run()V

and so on and on.

Does this give you any clues?

Thanx, PLA

It could be the Java garbage collection thread.
